If your fantasy basketball draft is coming up and you’ve been fortunate enough to get the first pick this year, the good news is that you’ll end up with a great player who should carry your team to great levels of success.
While there are some top-notch players at the top of the pack, it may be difficult to figure out who might best suit your team. Depending on the stats you’re targeting, you may want to go with one of the following players.
I spent this past week at a brand new camp sponsored by NBA All-Star Chris Paul. Partnering up with some top high school coaches from around the area, Chris Paul and his crew drilled us, taught us, and a lot more things that helped us improve our basketball skills.
The camp was divided into two age groups. One for kids 7-10 years old (this was in the morning) and one for kids 11-18 years old (this was in the afternoon). One of the best things about the camp was the fact that Chris Paul really did get personal with everyone there.
Boston Celtics take the Los Angeles Lakers 92-86 in the 5th game of the NBA finals. The Celtics at 3-2 are just one win away from the NBA Championship.
The Lakers were out of sync most of the night. Whether or not there is a game 7 will depend on how they bring it in game 6.
Boston has been bringing their A game all the way. They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team with the best record in the regular season. They beat the Orlando Magic, the team with the second best record in the regular season. If they beat the Lakers, they will become the third team to beat the teams with the first, second and third best records in the regular season and win the NBA Championship.
Utah Jazz win against the Memphis Grizzlies who lacked steam 117-94.
Nothing could have foreshadowed this kind of night for the Jazz, who came into Wednesday mired in the gloom from a three-game losing streak and left to play the Memphis Grizzlies without Deron Williams.
With chief executive Greg Miller going on FSN Utah before the game to address the team’s recent swoon, the Jazz responded with a feel-good 117-94 victory over the Grizzlies, which Williams sat out with an injured right wrist.
For the second time in three months, a Detroit Tiger has found his way into police custody.
Tigers starting catcher Gerald Laird was arrested Wednesday night for his role in a brawl inside the NBA arena in Phoenix, the Associated Press reported. Also arrested were Laird’s younger brother, Brandon Laird, who’s an infield prospect in the Yankees’ system, and an unidentified man. The alleged brawl occurred in a lounge area of the U.S. Airways Center, where the Suns and Celtics were playing. AP reported that police said Laird’s party was contacted by security about loud behavior, and that two men were allowed back into the lounge after a conversation with security. But a melee, according to the AP report, broke out shortly thereafter when the Laird brothers assaulted the security guards.
Kobe Bryant hit yet another buzzer-beating three-pointer and finished with 39 points as the defending NBA champions overcame a 20-point deficit to beat the Sacramento Kings 109-108 on Friday night.
Omri Casspi had another solid game, scoring 23 points (shooting 8 for 13, and 3 for 4 from three-point range) in 41 minutes on the floor. He also had three assists and a steal. Spencer Hawes had a career-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Lamar Odom had a season-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the NBA-leading Lakers.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — LeBron James’s 28 points Saturday keyed Cleveland’s 94-86 win over the NBA-worst New Jersey Nets.
James also contributed nine rebounds and seven assists as the Cavaliers won their seventh game in a row despite shooting just 39.5 percent from the field and making just 4-of-14 3-pointers.
Mo Williams, Anderson Varejao and Shaquille O’Neal also hit double figures for Cleveland.
The Nets, who have lost 11 of their last 12 games, got 22 points from Devin Harris and 20 from Brook Lopez.
An NBA all-star and his Washington Wizards teammate reportedly drew guns on each other in the team’s locker room during a Christmas Eve fight over a gambling debt, the New York Post reports.
Gilbert Arenas, 27, went for his gun first, the Post reported, citing unnamed inside sources. His teammate Javaris Crittenton, 22, allegedly brandished a firearm as well.
It was unclear whether other teammates saw the standoff inside the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., the Post reported.
After a great 2007-2008 season and a very impressive playoff run, the 2008-2009 Hornets looked nothing like the team from the season before as they rolled over in the first round of the playoffs. Fans in New Orleans were disappointed with the result, as the season before paved the way for hope that the Hornets team was on the rise. Clashes between players and coach Byron Scott, among other things, killed the momentum for the New Orleans Hornets last season.
