Arizona Cardinals Darnell Dockett

As the NFL season progresses, each game becomes increasingly more important, unless you’re the Indianapolis Colts and already have a playoff spot wrapped up. Many teams got much needed wins (Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins & NY Giants), while others were not so fortunate (Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings & San Francisco 49ers).

Because so many NFL players have a live, unfiltered feed to their fans through Twitter, Sunday afternoons and evenings make for an entertaining cap to each week.

Following Sunday night’s 30-17 victory over the visiting Minnesota Vikings, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett of the Arizona Cardinals reacted to the impressive victory: “I want to send a shout outfor Ej henderson, #56 from the vikings, my prayers are with ya homie — he got hurt really bad in tonights game!” Henderson suffered a season-ending fractured leg during the game, a huge blow to the core of the linebacking crew of the Vikings. After that tweet, he followed it up by saying “Shout to my my boy/teammate @Lfitzgerald11 he had a helluva game against the team he was a ball boy for!!

On the other side of that game, Vikings’ offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie wrote “Thank u very much 2 each and every Viking Fan that sent all the positive messages! It was a tough loss and a learning experience @ the same!

In what was considered by many the most exciting game of the day, the New Orleans Saint sdefeated the Washington Redskins 33-30 in overtime. Two huge plays by wide receiver Robert Meachem allowed the Saints’ record to remain unblemished at 12-0. In one play the Redskins’ Kareem Moore intercepted a Drew Brees pass, and during the return, Meachem stripped the ball, and ran it 44 yards into the end zone for a touchdown. Later, Meachem connected with Brees on a 53 yard TD pass.  New Orleans’ running back Reggie Bush was at a loss for words following the improbable come-from-behind victory: “One word: WOW!!!

During the San Diego Chargers 30-23 win at the Cleveland Browns, LaDainian Tomlinson passed Cleveland legend Jim Brown as the NFL’s 8th leading all-time rusher. Brown congratulated Tomlinson following the game. Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips captured the moment and posted a picture on his Twitter account: “I’m wit greatness I wanna be on these guys level one day. Jim Brown and LThttp://tweetphoto.com/5978852.”

One of the biggest upsets of the day was the defeat of the defending world champion Pittsburgh Steelers by the fickle Oakland Raiders, 27-24. Following the victory, Raiders linebacker Thomas Howard posted “What a game Raider Fans. What a 4th quarter, with like 3 or 4 lead changes. Bruce to L. Murphy, now thats a winning combination. I love it.” With just nine seconds remaining in the game, Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski connected with receiver Louis Murphy for a game-winning 11 yard touchdown. Another Raiders linebacker, Kirk Morrison, weighed in on the game as well “When you win big games like this, the plane ride back is always an enjoyable one. Time to play MarioKart and Tecmo Bowl on my Nintendo DS.
