The Ravens Just Might Have What it Takes
The Baltimore Ravens are, what many sports enthusiasts would call, infants in the NFL. The originated in Cleveland, and after much debate, Art Modell finally got his wish of moving them to Baltimore. They did not have their own stadium, at first, so they plated in Memorial Stadium, home of the Colts. It only took two years for their stadium to be ready; although, the name of the stadium changed numerous times over the next ten years (it took some time for the team to settle in).
Coach Marchirboda, while a good coach, could not get the Ravens out of the rut they were in. They were not lying horribly, but they were not standing out as a good team either. Two years after their move into their new stadium, in 1998, a new head coach came on board — Brian Billick. The beginning of their first season with their new coach was tough; however, something changed and they ended the year on a better note. Now that some time has passed, everyone has had some time to learn how to play on each other’s strengths; the team is starting to pull together. In fact, they ended the ’99 season with an 8-8 record.
The 2008 season was a whole new era for the Baltimore Ravens; this was the first season the team even had a glimpse at the Super Bowl. Facing the Jaguars, at home, gave the Ravens the sixth seed slot in the AFC playoffs. It wasn’t long after that the chance at the Super Bowl had been taken from them, but they were right there. The way they played in the ’08 season began to stir curiosity in fan’s, staff, and sports enthusiast’s minds.
Fans were hoping that the ’09 season would have been the chance they have been waiting for, to brag about their Ravens. The team played hard during training over the summer, and preseason practice and games looked strong for the Ravens. Additionally, their placement in 2008, got them the 26th draft pick for the ’09 season, which they used wisely by picking Michael Oher.
The Ravens are a new team as they are just starting their 12th season on the NFL. Regardless, after some hard work, they have made their way to some big games and attention. Everyone is excited about the 2010 season. The tickets will sell quick so be sure get your tickets as soon as they go on-sale!
