One of the largest guys in college sports a year ago, Terrence Cody, at 6 foot four inches tall & 350 pounds, has altered how colleges look at bigger players. A fantastic run stopper can make a world of difference for football clubs wanting to free up their linebackers.
I really believe that more and more we will see enormous men, obviously like Terrence Cody, arriving onto the scene in college football. A huge man at that overall size in the middle of the defense playing middle guard or nosetackle certainly a valuable tool.

Until tonight, it was doubtful the New York Jets could make the NFL playoffs. The Jets played an impressive game at home against the Cincinnati Bengals, shutting them out 37-0. This win gives the Jets a rematch with the Bengals next Saturday, less one week, but this game will be in the AFC Playoffs at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.
The Jets dominated from start to finish, putting up 320 yards of offense, and holding the Bengals to 72 yards, 1-for-11 on third downs, 5 first downs, and zero net yards passing. Cincinnati threw just 19 times, completing just four passes, three for backup J.T. O’Sullivan and one for Carson Palmer. They also had little impact running the ball, and held onto the ball for just 18:46 to 41:14 for the Jets.

Following the controversy caused by the Colts pulling their starters during the week 16 game against the Jets, the NFL will ask the competition committee to re-review the rules on playoff bound teams resting their key players during games later in the regular season.
“This is an issue that we have reviewed in the past. The position of the Competition Committee, and affirmed by the clubs, when it was reviewed in 2005 was that ‘a team that has clinched its division title has earned the right to rest its starters for the postseason, and that preparing for the postseason is just as important as protecting some other team’s playoff opportunity.’ That is the current policy.” said Greg Aiello, the NFL’s senior vice president of public relations on Friday.

Chad Ochocinco is donating dinero to the NFL yet again.
The Cincinnati Bengals receiver is being fined $30,000 for his latest stunt – donning a poncho and sombrero after scoring a touchdown this weekend – a person in the NFL told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league has not made any announcement about the fine. The punishment was first reported by ESPN.com.
Ochocinco wore a gray poncho and black sombrero after catching a TD pass in Cincinnati’s 23-13 victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Despite the fact that neither their starting QB Carson Palmer nor his Indy counterpart Peyton Manning saw action, the Cincinnati Bengals will take their wins however and whenever they can get them. For that reason, they had to be heartened by their NFL preseason ending 38-7 home rout of the Indianapolis Colts. The Bengals rushing game put 296 yards on the board and Cincinnati trounced Indianapolis in every significant offense statistical category.
The Bengals easily covered as a -3 home favorite, evening their NFL preseason record against the spread at 2-2. The Colts ATS mark also matched their SU record, dropping to 1-3 on the exhibition season. The combined 45 points went OVER the posted total of 36.

Kyle Boller filled in for an injured Mark Bulger, and the St. Louis Rams improved to 2-1 on the NFL preseason with a 24-21 victory over the host Cincinnati Bengals. The Rams led 24-14 heading into the fourth quarter, but a Bengals TD early in the frame made for some drama down the stretch. The Bengals couldn’t close the deal, however, and lost their second game in NFL preseason play.
Boller did withstand a hard hit from linebacker Keith Rivers that knocked his helmet off his head. Rather than leave the game, he calmly picked up his helmet and finished the drive. For the game, the Rams #2 QB was 14 of 20 for 96 yards. After the game, he talked about the play:
