If you’ve kept up with the news at all, you’ve probably seen a lot of coverage about Pete Rose and whether or not he belongs in Cooperstown. My thoughts about this issue will follow.
Rose was exiled from baseball after being caught gambling on games involving a team he managed about 20 years ago. While he violated a code of conduct, this has nothing to do with anything done while he was a professional baseball player.
Another reason I believe that Pete should be let in is that even though he did bet on the game of baseball, it was after he even quit playing. So a lifetime ban was a little to harsh, don’t you think?

For the New York Jets, they felt that they were being overlooked heading into the 2009 NFL Playoffs. Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati, they put the other four AFC teams left on notice. Led by a great outing by rookie QB Mark Sanchez and a defense that held Carson Palmer in check, the Jets will move on to round two after a 24-14 win.

N.F.L. owners are prepared to end a small sliver of revenue sharing that helps shore up the league’s lowest-revenue teams.
The owners informed the players union that starting with the next league year in March — which would be the start of an uncapped season if no new collective bargaining agreement is reached — owners will not share a $100 million fund. Nine teams at the bottom of the revenue pecking order drew from that pool this season.
The $100 million represents a tiny fraction of the $6.5 billion — much of it money generated from television contracts — that all 32 teams share. The decision was first reported by ESPN on Sunday.

Entering the year, the Bengals defensive unit looked to be much better. But the doubt remained whether they might be able to overcome a few of the deficiencies of the 2008 year’s team. Let’s break down the three essential facets as I see things.
The team hardly ever got to the quarterback in the 2008 year, and when they were able to, it ordinarily came from the linebacker position.
At some point in the game versus Denver on Sunday, the team registered three sacks, all of which came from the defensive front. DE Antwan Odom recorded two sacks, including one large one in the 4th quarter, which knocked the Broncos out of field goal position.
