NFL Lockout May Have An End In Sight

Final issues need to be worked out for the players before their vote on the NFL owners’ CBA resolution.

NFL Lockout is expected to end within the week and the free agency should begin as early as next Saturday.

Betrayal was felt by the players this week and the agreement was not signed as planned. Owners signed the agreement Thursday but the players stated that they did not receive a copy of the new CBA until after the conference call Thursday night.

Tim Ruskell done running Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks Tim Ruskell

RENTON, Wash. — Tim Ruskell has been pushed out as president and general manager of the Seahawks, leaving the door open for Mike Holmgren’s possible return to Seattle.

Ruskell announced his resignation Thursday, weeks before his five-year contract with the team ends. He asked the team if he was going to be retained so he could begin planning for offseason moves. Owner Paul Allen, the ailing Microsoft Corp. tycoon, and Seahawks chief executive officer Tod Leiweke told Ruskell no, so he left.

Undrafted Brian Hover played the entire game for the Patriots and may have earned himself a position as Tom Brady’s backup with a solid all around performance as New England topped the New York Giants 38-27 in the NFL preseason finale for both clubs. Hover passed for 242 yards and no interceptions on 18 of 25 passing. Most impressively, he didnt get rattled as the Giants broke from the gate quickly to post a 21-0 first quarter lead. The Patriots finished their NFL preseason slate at 3-1, while the Giants slumped to a 1-3 mark in exhibition play.

Ben Roethlisberger looked sharp in his return to the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup from injury, while the Buffalo Bills offense continued to sputter as the Steelers topped the visiting Bills 17-0 in NFL preseason action. The victory improved Pittsburgh’s NFL preseason record to 2-1, while Buffalo dropped to 1-3.

NFL football betting enthusiasts who backed the Steelers cashed their tickets as Pittsburgh covered the -6 price as home favorites. The Steelers are now 2-1 against the number in the NFL preseason, while Buffalo dropped to 1-2-1 ATS. The 17 points went UNDER the total of 36 and represented the Steelers third UNDER in three games.

Michael Vick

The Packers have gone on record by saying they have not ruled out signing free agent Michael Vick. It has also been reported that the Packers are considering signing Vick to a contract. While I am not a big fan of Vick with the dog fighting and beating the Packers on Wild Card Weekend in 2002, he could be a good asset to an already good offensive team. He could add that extra dimension that the Packers are looking for. Here are the pros and cons for the Packers if they sign Vick.
