Hopes are that Westbrook will be ready to be back in the line up for Sundays game against the 49ers after two concussions that have kept him off the field for several weeks.

Brian Westbrook hasn’t made his usual contributions this season but it looks like he may get another crack at it this Sunday against the 49ers. According to ProFootballTalk, the Eagles have released running back P.J. Hill and replaced him with tight end Martin Rucker. Dropping a running back could very well mean that Westbrook may be ready to make his return.

Like it or not, Ravens fans should be thankful of the Colts.
Indianapolis (13-0), which has clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs, will play their starters in Thursday’s game at Jacksonville even though the Colts have nothing to gain.
This works in the favor of the Ravens, who need the Jaguars to lose. Although the Ravens and Jacksonville are both 7-6, the Jaguars have a slight edge because their AFC record (6-3) is slightly better than the Ravens’ 6-4 conference mark.

The Broncos might have ended up with more than 350 yards of offense in Sunday’s 28-16 loss, but it’s the handful of yards that they couldn’t come up with that seem to bother the team most.
Yes, the short-yardage nightmare is back.
Much like they did in the first month of the season, the Broncos struggled most in the shortest of down-and-distance situations against Indianapolis, and failed runs and incomplete passes killed several promising drives.
The Broncos converted only 6 of 18 total third downs, and only one when they needed less than three yards for a first down.

The NFL fined Cowboys left tackle Flozell Adams $50,000 for his hit on Giants DE Justin Tuck, which led to a ruckus at the end of the first half of Sunday’s game.
Adams has already been fined $25,000 by the league this year for various incidents.
Jason La Canfora reports that Adams is in danger of being suspended by the NFL if he does not clean up his act.
With four games left in the season and the Cowboys in the thick of a playoff hunt, Adams’ teammates and coaches are likely telling “The Hotel” to play it cool.

Baltimore Ravens Joe Flacco did not have the best performance Monday night, but he refused to blame the cold in Green Bay for his poor performances. “I didn’t have it last night … but that had nothing to do with the game,” Flacco said in a Sports Illustrated interview.
Flacco took responsibility for part of the Ravens’ thwarted comeback attempt.
“We were getting outplayed a little bit, but we hung in there tough and put ourselves in a position to get back in the game. I just made a mistake and I killed those chances, but we gotta keep going, we gotta keep fighting and see what we can do over the next four games.”

Matt Schaub shoulder injury on Sunday was a dislocation to the same shoulder that required surgery in 2007, according to the Houston Chronicle. “Same arm, same injury,” Schaub said. “Dislocated in the same spot. I don’t think it’s quite as severe as the one that happened two years ago.” Yeah Matt, let’s hope it’s not as severe as the one that ended your season two years ago, he was able to come back to the game after getting hurt yesterday and played just fine, and for now it looks like he dodged a bullet. He did say he was experiencing pain the rest of the game, so hopefully his shoulder will get better heading into next week.

Minnesota Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson suffered a gruesome leg injury in last night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. With just under seven minutes remaining in the game, the Cardinals held a 17-point lead and were trying to run down the clock. Arizona running back Tim Hightower rushed to the right side and headed downfield, where Vikings safety Jamarca Sanford attempted a diving tackle. Hightower broke the tackle and Sanford collided with Henderson, resulting in a ghastly injury. After the game Vikings head coach Brad Childress said Henderson broke his femur and will spend the night in Phoenix.

Maurice Jones-Drew was held out of today’s practice to rest his ailing knee, according to Michael C. Wright’s (Florida Times-Union) twitter page. Jones-Drew is averaging 19 rushing attempts per game in his first year as a full-time starter with Jacksonville, and it is a good idea to get him some rest during the practice week. He should be good to go for Sunday’s game against Houston, who are ranked 22nd in run defense.
