Cowboys Break Saints 2009 Winning Streak 24-17

The New Orleans Saints are having a great year in spite of their first loss of the season to the Dallas Cowboys.  The Cowboys came out strong right from the beginning, yet it looked as if the Saints would make their comeback, again, in the last few minutes.  The Saints took their first loss of the season 13-1.

Will the Indianapolis Colts rest some of their starters before the playoffs or go for the gusto and try for a 16-0 perfect finish this season.  This would put them in the record book next to the New England Patriots.

Colts are actually helping out Ravens

Like it or not, Ravens fans should be thankful of the Colts.

Indianapolis (13-0), which has clinched home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs, will play their starters in Thursday’s game at Jacksonville even though the Colts have nothing to gain.

This works in the favor of the Ravens, who need the Jaguars to lose. Although the Ravens and Jacksonville are both 7-6, the Jaguars have a slight edge because their AFC record (6-3) is slightly better than the Ravens’ 6-4 conference mark.

Dallas Clark (#44)

During the Denver Broncos-Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Colts – namely Peyton Manning – went through the proverbial roller coaster of ups and downs as he did well early on, played like his brother Eli a bit later before finishing strong. Manning threw two early touchdowns, would proceed to throw some untimely interceptions, then as his custom, lead the Colts on a drive in the fourth quarter. The end result? I think that if you’ve followed the Colts this season, then you probably know. But for those who casually follow the team, Indianapolis held off Denver 28-16 to gain home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

Colts Plan to Play Starters Against Jaguars

Ravens may be thankful to the Colts as the undefeated team (13-0) goes into Thursday’s game with their starters on the field right from the start.

Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell

After his team clinched the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs, coach Jim Caldwell announced it will be business as usual Thursday night at Jacksonville.

That means healthy starters will play — start to finish. And it means players who are dealing with injuries won’t play. Caldwell’s decision will be embraced by the majority of players, who were not pleased at the thought of limited playing time for front-line starters in the final three games.

Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning

The Indianapolis Colts remain undefeated in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos while they break the NFL record for consecutive regular season wins.

Even Peyton Manning’s inconsistency couldn’t derail history for the Indianapolis Colts.

Or preserve the NFL records of New England and San Francisco.

Manning was sensational, throwing three TD passes in the first 23 minutes, then mediocre, getting picked off three times in the Colts’ 28-16 victory over Denver for their 22nd consecutive regular-season win. While Manning struggled late, the defense held off the Broncos as Indy broke the Patriots’ record victory streak set just last year.

Victorious Colts break NFL record

Indianapolis Colts Peyton Manning #18

The Indianapolis Colts remain undefeated and broke the NFL record for consecutive regular season wins in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos 28-16.

Peyton Manning passed for four touchdowns, three to Dallas Clark, as Indianapolis eclipsed the New England Patriots’ string of 21 victories between 2006 and 2008.

The Colts (13-0) have not lost a regular season game since falling to the Tennessee Titans 31-21 in October 2008.

Indianapolis also wrapped up home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs and became the most successful NFL team in any decade with their 114th victory since 2000. The San Francisco 49ers held the previous record of 113 wins in the 1990s.
