Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis skeptical about the legitimacy of Brady’s injury reports. He speaks out during the opponent’s conference call.

The last time these teams played, Baltimore players thought officials were far too quick to throw flags that kept the pass-rush heat off Tom Brady. In a conference call this week, Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis sounded wary about reports of Brady’s broken ribs and broken index finger on his throwing hand.

The NFL fined Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil $20,000 Thursday for verbal abuse of a game official for his sideline comments in Tennessee’s 42-17 loss to San Diego on Christmas night.
The Titans had just been flagged for roughing Philip Rivers when an official heard Cecil say something. The Titans were penalized another 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Coach Jeff Fisher defended his first-year coordinator, saying Cecil was overheard talking to fellow coaches on his headset. Fisher said Cecil will elaborate when he appeals the fine.

The Indianapolis Colts remain undefeated in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos while they break the NFL record for consecutive regular season wins.
Even Peyton Manning’s inconsistency couldn’t derail history for the Indianapolis Colts.
Or preserve the NFL records of New England and San Francisco.
Manning was sensational, throwing three TD passes in the first 23 minutes, then mediocre, getting picked off three times in the Colts’ 28-16 victory over Denver for their 22nd consecutive regular-season win. While Manning struggled late, the defense held off the Broncos as Indy broke the Patriots’ record victory streak set just last year.

Minnesota Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson suffered a gruesome leg injury in last night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. With just under seven minutes remaining in the game, the Cardinals held a 17-point lead and were trying to run down the clock. Arizona running back Tim Hightower rushed to the right side and headed downfield, where Vikings safety Jamarca Sanford attempted a diving tackle. Hightower broke the tackle and Sanford collided with Henderson, resulting in a ghastly injury. After the game Vikings head coach Brad Childress said Henderson broke his femur and will spend the night in Phoenix.

Despite the lucky breaks they enjoyed all game, the New Orleans Saints’ bid for an unbeaten season was all but cooked. The Washington Redskins, leading by seven, nursed the ball into range for an easy field goal that would put the game away with less than two minutes to play.
Then Shaun Suisham missed. Wide right from 23 yards out.
“We thought he would make it,” Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma said.

Ben Roethlisberger was “hurt” by teammate Hines Ward’s remarks questioning why a concussion kept him out of an important game against the Ravens.
But the Steelers quarterback now agrees he shouldn’t have played.
Roethlisberger patched up his relationship with Ward during a phone call Monday, and the two have since moved on to Sunday’s game against Oakland.
“He reached out to me and I told him I was just hurt more than anything else,” Roethlisberger said Thursday. “You know, we got over it, moved past it and now we’re preparing.”
