Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Pat White was carted off the field on a backboard during Sundays game against Pittsburgh.

White collided with Steelers’ cornerback Ike Taylor in an unnerving helmet-to-helmet hit heard across Land Shark Stadium. Players from both teams motioned for help as football took a backseat. Silence overtook the stadium while everyone both on and off the field waited for one thing, to see White move.

“It’s bone-chiling almost,” Dolphins offensive guard Nate Garner said. “Seeing someone laying there motionless. It’s very scary.”

New England Patriots Tom Brady

The New England Patriots took a major step in wrapping up the AFC East Division on Sunday as they defeated the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium 17-10. Both teams in second place in the Division the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets also lost on Sunday giving the Patriots a 2 game lead in the Division with just 2 games left in the regular season. However if the way that New England performed against Buffalo is any indication of how they will play in the NFL Post Season; expect the Patriots to be eliminated in their first game.

Will the Indianapolis Colts rest some of their starters before the playoffs or go for the gusto and try for a 16-0 perfect finish this season.  This would put them in the record book next to the New England Patriots.

CHICAGO (Reuters) – The Indianapolis Colts, unbeaten at 14-0, have yet to decide whether to play a full strength team for the final two games of the regular season or rest their top performers before the playoffs, coach Jim Caldwell said.

The Indianapolis Colts have a chance to finish this season with a perfect 16-0 wins.  Will their starters rest before the playoffs or go for the gold that would put them in the record book along side the New England Patriots.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning

Luckily for the Denver Broncos, they had that four-game, midseason losing streak. Otherwise they would be joining the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, both 12-0, in the distraction that is the quest for an undefeated season.

“I understand some of those questions might start to increase,” said Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, “but I think one thing we have done is address the team we have coming up.”

There is good reason to suspect Manning speaks sincerely. Experience has taught him the accomplishment of regular-season winning streaks can ultimately become hollow.

Game reactions from NFL players

Arizona Cardinals Darnell Dockett

As the NFL season progresses, each game becomes increasingly more important, unless you’re the Indianapolis Colts and already have a playoff spot wrapped up. Many teams got much needed wins (Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins & NY Giants), while others were not so fortunate (Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings & San Francisco 49ers).

Because so many NFL players have a live, unfiltered feed to their fans through Twitter, Sunday afternoons and evenings make for an entertaining cap to each week.

LaDanian Tomlinson is still not fully recovered from a sprained right ankle, and as a result hell miss his second consecutive NFL regular season game this Sunday. Tomlinson was hurt in the San Diego Chargers season opening victory over the Oakland Raiders and didn’t play last week. The Chargers are slated to host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

After playing in eight consecutive regular season games last year, the superstar running back has missed three of the Chargers last four games including the Chargers AFC playoff loss to the eventual Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Success in the NFL mandates that even when teams aren’t playing their best they need to find a way to win. The Miami Dolphins found a way to win ugly in their NFL preseason battle of Florida on Thursday night. After spotting the Bucs a 6-0 lead, Miami used a late first half field goal and scored the only touchdown of the second half to comeback for the 10-6 win.

A starting QB battle in Tampa was the biggest storyline of the game and veteran Byron Leftwich appears to have gained the edge over Luke McCown. Bucs coach Raheem Morris gave little indication as to his preference in postgame comments:

When the biggest play of a NFL football game is an extra point, there’s a good chance it was a dull contest. The big play of the game? A point after touchdown by the Bengals backup kicker, none other than wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco’s PAT would prove to be the margin of victory as Cincinnati beat New England 7-6.

After the game, the always entertaining Chad Ochocinco was in rare form talking about his love for European soccer:

“‘Esteban’ Ochocinco is back, the most interesting footballer in the world. Everyone has to remember, I’ve always said that soccer is my No. 1 sport. I think Ronaldinho would be proud of me right now.”

In a NFL preseason game characterized by rainy weather, sloppy field conditions and a quick exit for both teams starters, the Miami Dolphins outlasted their in-state rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars by a 12-9 score. Miamis game winning score came on a 33 yard touchdown strike from Chad Henne to tight end Ernest Wilford.

Miami’s Ernest Wilford recently converted to tight end from wide receiver, and gave the football an emphatic spike after his game winning touchdown reception. Afterwards, he spoke to reporters about the game winning score:
