Orlando Magic Vince Carter
Vince Carter is a professional American basketball player, often known for his role in the Vince Carter Slam Dunk Contest of 2000. This was one of the most well known and exciting contests in the world of NBA basketball.

The Slam Dunk Contest is one of the most popular NBA contests and the crowd was utterly blown away by Vince Carter’s impressive first performance back in 2000 when he made the first 360 ever, even windmilling the ball in the process. Leaving the crowd absolutely amazed by his performance, especially as it was his first attempt at a Slam Dunk Contest, the game has gone down in history since as one of the finest moments in professional basketball.

Pete Rose: Hall Of Fame Or Not?

Cincinnati Reds Pete Rose c.1978 (10OCT08)
If you’ve kept up with the news at all, you’ve probably seen a lot of coverage about Pete Rose and whether or not he belongs in Cooperstown. My thoughts about this issue will follow.

Rose was exiled from baseball after being caught gambling on games involving a team he managed about 20 years ago. While he violated a code of conduct, this has nothing to do with anything done while he was a professional baseball player.

Another reason I believe that Pete should be let in is that even though he did bet on the game of baseball, it was after he even quit playing. So a lifetime ban was a little to harsh, don’t you think?

New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul Thought by many to be one of the NBA’s best current players (and most definitely the top point guard), Chris Paul made a recent trip back to China, home of the 2008 olympics and Paul’s first ever Olympics gold.

While there are only a few NBA players who hail from China (they can probably be counted on one hand), Chris Paul has different feelings about the state of Chinese basketball.

Paul had a very emotional experience in Beijing last summer at the 2008 Olympic games. He claims that it changed his outlook on life, and his connection to the nation remains strong, as evidenced by his recent trip back to China.

Veteran point guard Jason Williams is returning to the NBA after a season away from basketball. Williams announced that hes re-entering the league this season, and will do so in an Orlando Magic uniform. Williams is tentatively slated to be the backup for starting playmaker Jameer Nelson.

Williams signed a one year NBA contract to play for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008, but walked away from it without playing a game. At the time, his wife was facing some complications during her pregnancy with their third child and Williams wanted to be able to spend time with her and his family. His attempt to be reinstated late in the season was rebuffed by the NBA, and he ended up sitting out the entire campaign.
