Cleveland Browns defensive lineman C.J. Mosley is done for the season with a leg injury.
Mosley got hurt in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to San Diego. The team placed Mosley on injured reserve, the fifth Cleveland defensive player to go on IR.
Browns coach Eric Mangini did not specify Mosley’s injury, but said the 26-year-old will likely have surgery. Mosley left the stadium on crutches and told some teammates he broke his ankle.

The art of sliding, it seems to me, is something that could be taught by any little league coach. When you’re the New York Jets, though, and the man you’re teaching to slide is worth $44.5 million, you might as well bring in the best sliding coach you can find.
How about the manager of the reigning World Champions? Will that do?
That’s who the Jets got. Joe Girardi, manager of the neighborly New York Yankees, took a little field trip over to the Jets practice facility yesterday to teach the Sanchize how to slide. Here’s head coach Rex Ryan, via the New York Post:

The Charlotte Observer reports that the teams starting QB, Jake Delhomme suffered a broken finger in the loss to the Jets:
Coach John Fox announced today in his weekly Monday news conference that quarterback Jake Delhomme suffered a broken finger on his right (throwing) hand late in Sunday’s 17-6 loss to the New York Jets. Fox said he became aware of the injury today, and that Delhomme apparently didn’t know he’d be injured Sunday until he had pain and swelling today. Other injuries sustained in the game included sprained ankles by running back DeAngelo WIlliams and receiver Dwayne Jjarett, and a sprained knee for defensive tackle Tank Tyler.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report. Based on comments from the quarterback and team officials, the prognosis sounds more optimistic than that.

A week after being named the New York Jets starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez rewarded his first year NFL coach with a victory. Rex Ryan got his first win as coach of the Jets as his team nipped the rival New York Giants 27-25. Both teams are now 1-2 in NFL preseason play.
NFL preseason betting enthusiasts who took the Giants as +3 point underdogs were rewarded with the outright victory. The Jets improved to 2-1 against the pointspread, while the Giants dropped to 1-2 against the money as they dropped their second straight ATS verdict. The combined 52 points went well OVER the posted total of 36.
