Brett Farve Retirement Rumors Fly Again…

Brett Favre

To retire or not to retire?

That is the question that continues year after year. It is asked, answered, decided on and then, just when we think Brett Farve has hung up his throwing arm, here he comes back out on the field.

Philadelphia sports commentator Howard Eskin of WIP radio tweeted rumors that the Eagles might be interested in Brett Farve as a back up to Michael Vick after Kevin Kolb is traded.

Chiefs New Offensive Coordinator, Charlie Weis

Charlie Weis signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs as offensive coordinator.  He’s come back to the NFL just about a month after being fired from Notre Dame.

Although Weis only had a so-so  run with Notre Dame, his NFL record speaks for itself assisting in three Super Bowl victories with the New England Patriots.

Chiefs head coach Todd Haley used to take orders from Weis thirteen years ago, but now the tides have turned as Haley is the one who hired Weis.

Chicago Bears Ron Turner

It was announced today, Ron Turner, offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears has been fired.

Bears starting fullback Jason McKie shares his feelings on some of the staffing changes.

“On one hand, I’m really happy that coach Lovie Smith is going to back next year. I think all the players knew Lovie wasn’t going anywhere, but it’s still a relief.”

Sources tell Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com that there is a belief in some circles that Mike Shanahan, rumored to have the Redskins head coaching job all but locked up, might be interested in the Texans head coaching position if current head coach Gark Kubiak gets fired.

Shanahan would be reunited with his son Kyle who is currently the Texans’ offensive coordinator while also working again with Texans G.M. Rick Smith who used to be part of his coaching staff while in Denver. The Texans have not come out and guaranteed Kubiak’s return and his status for next year is still very much in doubt.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been a crucial factor in the teams 2-0 start, showing a poise and head for the game very rare for NFL newcomers. Still, there wasn’t much worry at the revelation that hes suffering from tendinitis in his right knee. The Jets announced Sanchez’s injury on Thursday, and hes listed as probable on the official NFL injury report. Based on comments from the quarterback and team officials, the prognosis sounds more optimistic than that.

Brett Favre may get all of the headlines for the Minnesota Vikings, but NFL insiders are well aware that running back Adrian Peterson is the key to the teams offensive success. Peterson’s threat alone is enough to open up options for the passing game. He’s definitely more than a decoy, however–after winning the NFL rushing title last year hes already off to a great start with 272 yards and four touchdowns in only two games.

The Kansas City Chiefs have had an awful preseason, primarily due to their inability to put points on the board. This liability cost offensive coordinator Chan Gailey his job earlier in the week, but in the first game with head coach Todd Haley calling the plays it was more of the same as the Chiefs couldn’t find the end zone. St. Louis scored an offensive touchdown late in the first half and used a third quarter interception return for a score to beat Kansas City 17-9. The Chiefs finished the NFL preseason with a winless 0-4 record, while St. Louis posted a 3-1 mark.
