Washington Redskins GM Bruce Allen has not yet identified his candidates for head coach after firing Jim Zorn just hours earlier.
The Redskins have been in contact with former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan on Monday, ESPN and the AP reported.
NFL.com states that Shanahan is the preferred choice to replace Jim Zorn.
The airplane of Redskins owner Daniel Snyder was reported to be at an airport in the Denver area and Mike Shanahan lives in the Denver.
Shanahan then flew to Dulles airport in Virginia to meet with Redskins officials about possibly becoming their new head coach.

It appears that the Redskins are moving quickly when it comes to finding a coach to replace the soon to be fired Jim Zorn. The Denver Post reports that former Broncos two-time Super Bowl winning coach Mike Shanahan is in talks with Washington about coming aboard for 2010.
The report comes out a day after the Redskins hired Bruce Allen, son of late Redskins Hall of Fame coach George Allen, after Vinny Cerrato abruptly resigned. For now Allen says that Zorn is still his coach. “Give us some time to see how our relationship develops,” Allen said.

They won on Sunday. This is good. And they did it despite the previous high-schoolesque detention of several delinquent superstars (although I can’t totally blame Adalius Thomas, who at least phoned ahead, for being in a snit) and Brady’s obviously battered state (ribs, finger, the perennial shoulder, possibly the demands of brand-new fatherhood?). Wes Welker, as usual, showed up – bigtime. As did several others. However, something felt like it was missing.
So, what’s the matter? I think it might be called ‘team spirit-less.’ The Saints, beaming with laissez-les-bon-temps-roulez, lately are reminding me of the Pats of 2002 (and 2004 and 2005) – they were, in the best sense of the word, together.

Lets take a look at what happened to the Steelers in 2009 and what changes led the reigning Super Bowl champs to having such an off season following their big win.

It’s time to face facts, the 2009 Steelers are going to become the second straight Steelers squad to follow up a Super Bowl season with missing the playoffs. The 2006 team though had a different vibe, as they started slow, going 2-6 and then following it up by wrapping up the year 6-2. Then of course the team went through a huge change at the top with Bill Cowher stepping down as coach.

Most of television audiences in America watch NFL super bowl. The day on which this game is played is considered as the national holiday in America and is also known as Super Bowl Sunday. This day is also the second largest food consumption day in America. The popularity of NFL championships is comparable to Thanksgiving Day. If you put the neutral-site game in a dome — which would suit both teams, I’m sure — I’d have to give the edge to the New Orleans Saints right now. Both teams have astonishingly good quarterbacks, and offenses that take good-to-great receivers and make them transcendent, but the Saints have the advantage in their Achilles’ heel. Both teams have one obvious flaw. In Indy’s case, it’s the inability of their running game to get anything consistent going. New Orleans has a vulnerable run defense as their primary liability.
